Richard Harter Fogle's Nathaniel Hawthorne Manuscript, undated

Richard Harter Fogle (1911-1995), born in Canton, Ohio, received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College in 1933, his masters from Columbia University in 1936, and his doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1944. A specialist in nineteenth-century English and American Romanticism, he joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty as University Distinguished Professor of English in 1966. The collection is a typescript of an unpublished work by Richard Harter Fogle. The first page bears the title The Great English Romantics in Hawthorne's Major Romances.
